3 Spotlight: Net Zero We’re happy to report that 2025 was another successful year for us in regard to our steps towards net zero. Before net zero, we have our near-term target to hit, which is to reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, and we’re making great progress towards it. Below is an update on the various aspects of last year’s environmental journey: Solar Panels As we are six years into our Net Zero journey, and we’ve ticked off the most obvious ways of reducing emissions, we are now looking at further reducing our emissions by looking at solar power. We’ve begun exploring the feasibility of installing solar panels on the roof of ExeBox – an exciting step towards a more sustainable future for the business. We’re now working with a local Exeter-based company, who are preparing an initial proposal. This will give us an early indication of the system’s size, potential output, and cost, based on our electricity usage data from the past year. We very much hope we can push this project through, as it should give us a significant reduction in emissions, which may enable us to beat our Net Zero target. SBTi We have completed measuring our 2024 scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and the focus is on improving the accuracy of the data as well as improving methods of measuring our emissions. Our overall trend is still down, as expected, but in certain areas, the emissions are up due to improved measuring or changes in product mix. Carbon Measuring and GHG Factors 2025 has proven to be a studious year for several of us on the Zest team. We set ourselves goals to better understand carbon measuring and how the Greenhouse Gas emission factors are created and utilised. The journey has been insightful on many levels. The project has helped us to better understand our data and improve our approaches to data collection. 2024 Finalised Measurements In recent weeks we’ve completed our reporting on our 2024 scope 1, 2 and 3 measurements. In partnership with our improved emission factor understanding and our evolving data accuracy, we’ve seen some of our measurements increase compared to previous years. We view these increases like rough terrain on the journey to net zero. They do not dampen our spirits or our drive towards the goal, but reinforce the need for honesty and a multifaceted approach to achieving our net zero target. Our Plans for 2026 For the year ahead, we remain focused on refining our approach to measuring and reducing our carbon footprint and in sharing knowledge with our suppliers and partners to encourage them on their environmental journey. There is always more to do and every small step adds to the whole. OUR COMMITMENT TO ACHIEVING NET ZERO All products are subject to licensors’ approval
